Each bedroom has its own bath with tub and shower, with a mini-bidet in the master bath and a walk-in closet in the master bedroom. All water is purified with ultraviolet and activated charcoal, and the hot water is plentiful.

Ceilings in the master bedroom and dining room are arched brick, known as boveda. A skylight in the master bath provides cross ventilation and a view of the sky when you shower or bathe.

Above the master bedroom is the azotea, a covered terrace with two open walls, stone columns, a gas fireplace and a mini fridge. A 6-foot wrought iron screen is patterned on a Picasso etching of artist and model. This is the spot for a quiet read in the afternoon and drinks at sunset.

The house is five minutes from San Miguel's two major markets. The food market is filled with wonderful fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers, and the artisan's market has dozens of stalls filled with rugs, ceramics, metalwork, leather goods, clothing and jewelry, most sold by the families who made it.

Another five minutes (all level) brings you to the Jardin, the heart of San Miguel. Several excellent restaurants are a five to ten minute walk from the house, and the kitchen is well equipped to create wonderful dinners from the bounty of the area. The famous hot springs are five minutes by taxi.

There are three large private bedrooms one with king-sized bed and two queen-sized beds. All have gas fireplaces, private en suite baths and beautiful authentic Mexican furnishings. The master bedroom has a small flat screen TV. The master bedroom also has lovely views and a small, private terrace. The second bedroom has direct access to one of the home�s stone patios. Between the master bedroom and the third bedroom is an additional fully furnished, comfortable, large sitting room, the blue room.

The living areas are huge open spaces and very elegantly and comfortably furnished. The home�s main living room has a large sofa, two upholstered chairs, a built-in mesquite bar with comfortable padded bar stools. Lovely 700 sq ft newly renovated house available by week or month when available. It is in a secure complex in Colonia Allende which is a 20 minute walk or 10 min. bus ride to the Centro. The bus is two blocks away, and taxis are inexpensive, and plentiful. The house has a nice private patio with a table and chairs, is quiet, and is on the ground floor surrounded by greenery and fountains. There is a on site manager, and the people working there are wonderfully helpful. There is also a private parking space in this gated complex.

The appliances are brand new, and include a washer/dryer, new stove, refrigerator, and microwave. There is a Vonage phone(free calls to U.S.), and a prepaid local phone. We have a king size bed which can be separated into two single beds. There is a new desktop computer, and wireless Internet. There is a Cable TV(CNN& BBC), a CD player, and a DVD player. We have many CDs and books. The house is very comfortable with two fireplaces.(One just made by a local sculptor.) It is well stocked with new linens, dishes, pots and pans, etc. Housekeeping service is available for a small charge, as well as purified water.

The house rents for $850 a month or $400 a week, plus a security deposit which will be returned by the manager when you leave. Pets are sometimes accepted. The weather is wonderful during these months. It is warm during the day, and a little cooler in the evening..
San Miguel is a beautiful old colonial town with a 10% ex-pat population. English is spoken in many restaurants, and tourist attractions. Lovely 700 sq ft newly renovated house available by week or month when available. It is in a secure complex in Colonia Allende which is a 20 minute walk or 10 min. bus ride to the Centro. The bus is two blocks away, and taxis are inexpensive, and plentiful. The house has a nice private patio with a table and chairs, is quiet, and is on the ground floor surrounded by greenery and fountains. There is a on site manager, and the people working there are wonderfully helpful. There is also a private parking space in this gated complex.

The appliances are brand new, and include a washer/dryer, new stove, refrigerator, and microwave. There is a Vonage phone(free calls to U.S.), and a prepaid local phone. We have a king sized bed which can be separated into two single beds. There is a new desktop computer, and wireless Internet. There is a Cable TV(CNN& BBC), a CD player, and a DVD player. We have many CDs and books. The house is very comfortable with two fireplaces.(One just made by a local sculptor.) It is is well stocked with new linens, dishes, pots and pans, etc. Housekeeping service is available for a small charge, as well as purified water.

The house rents for $850 a month or $400 a week, plus a security deposit which will be returned by the manager the day you leave.

San Miguel is a beautiful old colonial town with a 10% ex-pat population. English is spoken in many restaurants, and tourist attractions. My condo is located about twenty minutes walking from centre and there is a bus that runs every ten minutes close to the gate. You will wake up to the songbirds playing on the tree right outside the windows. You pay the maid when she comes once a week.

This price of *$375 is by the week but if you rent by the month it would be considerably less.

*This includes all utilities, Cable TV, wireless internet and local phone. There is a $100 refundable deposit by the week and $200 refundable if by the month.

The adjacent bathroom is decorated with traditional Mexican talavera tile. The bedroom is furnished with a brand-new double bed, a large closet, and a nightstand. The kitchen is fully equipped with a four-burner gas stove and oven, a refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker, dishes, pots and pans, and complimentary purified water. Wireless broadband Internet is available if you have your own WiFi-equipped laptop. Off-street parking is available.

Your hosts live right next door. He's American, she's Mexican, and we're both bilingual. We're happy to offer tips on Guanajuato restaurants, language schools, things to see and do, and so on.

A word about Guanajuato: For the visitor who wants to see the REAL Mexico, Guanajuato is the perfect place to start. Though large enough to offer a wealth of museums, restaurants, and shopping, this historic colonial city is also small enough to be friendly and accessible to the first-time visitor. It's also a great place to learn Spanish, either at the University of Guanajuato or at a number of independent language schools. The three-week International Cervantino Festival in October is the biggest and most important cultural festival in all of Latin America.
